November 29, 2005Children of NEGST praise God for new booksToday, the sixty-four children who attend the campus nursery school, called Pistis School, gathered outside to thank God and sing praise songs in a special ceremony. A donor has enabled the school completely to re-stock their shelves of books. With the discount given by the bookseller, the school was even able to purchase additional storybooks and toys. While their parents are studying feverishly for exams, the children of NEGST are learning to praise the Lord for each new blessing he brings. A five-year-old girl wrote the following e-mail: “Dear Grandma, I learned how to pray at my school. Today, I prayed for the new books that we bought—that God would bless those books. Love, Kiara” School headmistress a woman of prayerMrs. Njuguna, the headmistress of Pistis School, is a woman of prayer. With the school for 20 years, she brings each child regularly before the Lord. She and the dedicated teachers on staff are focused on training these children in the knowledge and love of God.Any NEGST student who is able to spend time at the nursery school cannot help but be moved by the love the teachers have for God and for the children. This love is evidenced as the children grow not only intellectually, but spiritually as well. |
Pistis School basicsThe Pistis School is an integral part of the NEGST community, located on campus near the student housing.Founded along with NEGST in 1985, the expanding school serves students in nursery school, pre-school, kindergarten, and grades one, two and three. This year, 64 students are enrolled in this Christ-centered school, 57 of whom are children of NEGST students. Pistis is the Greek word for faith; and the faith of the teachers and students is evident here. Supporting a child at Pistis School is another way to support NEGST students. Fees range from 6,000 to 9,000 Kenyan shillings per term. e-mail: ccmipistis@yahoo.com phone: 0721-576534 |
